Bob and Julie Porter receive 2024 Mayoral Award
26 JANUARY, 2024 | Bob and Julie Porter were the proud recipients of this year's Lockyer Valley Region Mayoral Award, presented by Mayor Tanya Milligan on Australia Day.
"The award this year epitomises a partnership, a core value of our council," Mayor Milligan said. "This partnership started with a shed and living in a caravan during a mouse plague, it demonstrated that men and women can both multitask, raise a family and transform a community and add to its identity."
Mayor Milligan paid tribute to the Porters' years of community involvement in the Gatton Leagues Club, the Lockyer Race Club, tourism, kids kindy and primary schools, while supporting many local causes and fundraising efforts.
"This partnership has invested and transformed not just themselves, but this community," she said.
Porters Best Regional Gaming Venue 2023

Porters named Australia's Best Traditional Pub Accommodation 2022

Porters Best Pub-Style Accommodation 2022
13 JUNE, 2022 | For the second year running, our onsite motel has been named Best Pub-Style Accommodation in the 2022 Queensland Hotels Association Awards for Excellence.

Porters Regional Hotel of the Year 2021
9 JUNE, 2021 | Porters are pleased as punch to announce four wins at the 2021 Queensland Hotels Association Awards for Excellence held in Brisbane on Monday 7 June.
Porters were named overall Regional Hotel of the Year, along with Best Pub-Style Accommodation, and Best Keno Venue. Porters head chef Paul Lochel was named Queensland Chef of the Year.

Porters named Lockyer Valley's Best Food & Dining Business 2019
23 OCTOBER, 2019 | For the fourth time, Porters Plainland Hotel have been named 'Best Food & Dining Business' at the Lockyer Valley Business, Training & Apprenticeship Awards. Porters have taken out this award every year since 2015, with one exception.

Porters named Queensland's Best Pub Redevelopment Over $2M
15 OCTOBER, 2019 | Porters Plainland Hotel are honoured to have taken out two awards at the 2019 Queensland Hotels Association Awards for Excellence in Brisbane.
Porters were named Best Redeveloped Licensed Premises Over $2M for our brand new function rooms, gaming lounge and onsite motel opened in June 2019. The Hotel was also named Queensland's Best On-Premise Retail Liquor Outlet.
In addition, the Hotel was a finalist in the Best Draught Beer, Best Environmental Practice and Best Mid-range Accommodation award categories.
We would like to thank all of our valued customers for their ongoing support, and we are pleased to offer our community and visitors some of the best facilities in the state.

Porters QHA Environment Winners
10 OCTOBER, 2018 | Porters Plainland Hotel are the proud winners of the Best Environmental Practice category at this year's Queensland Hotels Association Awards for Excellence.
We've been hard at work for many years to achieve the best practice possible, and the results speak for themselves. 10 per cent of our daily power is now generated from a rooftop solar array, our own water treatment plant recycles up to 8000 litres a day, we recycle all glass, cans, plastic and cardboard, and the hotel's 130-tree citrus orchard generates limes and lemons for use in the bar!

22 SEPTEMBER, 2016 | Porters Plainland Hotel are the proud winners of the Best Keno Venue category at this year's Australian Hotels Association National Awards for Excellence.

Porters named QHA Best Keno Facility
30 SEPTEMBER, 2015 | Porters Plainland Hotel has taken out the Best Keno Facility award at this year's Queensland Hotels Association 23rd annual awards for excellence.
The honour was awarded to the venue with the best Keno setup and displays, sales performance, promotional activity and customer service, with Porters singled out from a field of about a dozen hotels statewide.
Plainland's keeping it in the family
26 MAY, 2008 | Family Business Australia, the peak body for family and private enterprises in Australia, have awarded Porters Plainland Hotel 'Third Generation Family Business of the Year (Qld)' for the second year running.
Meanwhile Schultes Meat Tavern of Plainland were named Second Generation Family Business of the Year in the FBA awards.
Porters new Bottleshop opens
1 JANUARY, 2008 | Warrego Highway travellers will have noticed the slabs going up over recent months, and on Saturday 22 December the hard work finally paid off with the grand opening of the Plainland Hotel's huge new drive-through bottleshop, just in time for Christmas.
Featuring a greatly enlarged, fully air-conditioned and modernised product area including a walk-in coldroom, the new building at around 300 square metres is more than double the size of the old hotel bottleshop, and promises to continue the Porter family's renowned service to their patrons.
Porters QHA's Hoteliers of the Year
12 NOVEMBER, 2007 | 30 years of dedication were rewarded in a surprise gong from Queensland's peak hotels body recently, when Bob and Julie Porter were named the QHA Hoteliers of the Year for 2007.
The Queensland Hotels Association's most prestigious award was the last to be presented at the annual awards night held in Brisbane on 1 November, and Bob and Julie freely admit to being 'totally surprised'.
"It was a very emotional moment. It's more of a personal thing for us. We've put in the hard yards together and we are very proud of that," Julie Porter said.
Porters Plainland celebrates 60 years
30 JULY, 2006 | For the Porters, now in their third generation behind the bar at the Plainland Hotel, hospitality runs in the blood.
This July the family celebrates sixty years since Richard 'Dick' and Rita Porter took over management of the Warrego Highway landmark, at the gateway to Queensland's Lockyer Valley.
Their children Bob, Robyn and Annette have a wealth of memories from the early years at Plainland...

Porters named Best Hotel Redevelopment under $1M
7 OCTOBER, 2003 | Porters Plainland Hotel has been named Queensland's Best Hotel/Tavern Redevelopment Under $1 Million in this year's Queensland Hotels Association (QHA) awards.
Completed by design and construction firm Paynter Dixon, the hotel revamp was also recently named best refurbishment/renovation up to $2 million in the Queensland Master Builders Association's 2003 Housing and Construction Awards.
'Fast Eddie' Charlton plays the Plainland
16 SEPTEMBER, 2003 | It was a dream come true for 16 local enthusiasts this Monday night when Australian snooker legend Eddie Charlton played the Plainland Hotel.
'Fast Eddie' Charlton, a three-times world championship runner-up and Australian eight-ball champion, enjoyed an evening of eight-ball action at the Plainland during a tour from Sydney to Rockhampton.
